How Do Heat Pumps Work?

A heat pump doesn't generate heat the way a furnace does. A gas furnace burns gas to create heat. A heat pump removes heat from ambient air and transfers it inside.  in the summer, it reverses direction and works like an air conditioner by removing heat from your home. It removes what you don't want; the heat. That's what makes a heat pump a two-in-one system for both heating and cooling.

Heat Pump Pros and Cons

Heat pumps aren't always the right fit for every home or business, so here's a quick breakdown:

Pros: it is one system for heating and cooling, lower operating costs than running a separate furnace and AC, and (in the case of ductless systems) no ductwork required.
